What is the address where you would like to age in place?

My Typical Great Day

Get up around 8 and walk with the dogs. Eat a hot cereal with my wife-black coffee reading the online papers. Call family and friends-some reading and work until noon. (I want to continue to work on my books as long as I’m on the planet.)

Lunch is usually homemade soup that I make in advance. Leek Mushroom and split pea are my favorites. A salad with that main course, and always a piece of dark chocolate for dessert.

Next, I usually watch some boring Netflix movie or the news to fall asleep for half an hour.

Weather permitting, I go for a walk again with the dogs. If the weather isn’t great, I walk and run on the treadmill. I do this 7 days a week.

Next, I prepare dinner; my favorites are beef tenderloin, followed by goulash, and most fish of any kind.

Dessert: I love a crisp and occasional raspberry pie with ice cream.

After dinner, I wind down by watching the news or reading. I generally have 1 book always on the go on Kindle. I usually fall asleep watching tv at around 11, then head for bed. After that, I listen to podcasts to make sure I fall asleep or sometimes relaxation audio.

Health and Wellness

I have arthritis, so I need to keep moving. Walk twice a day when possible or when the weather is not great, on the treadmill. I take no medications but one general vitamin a day. I see the cardiologist annually and get a colon cancer checkup every two years.

Food

I love dark chocolate, some vegetables baked in the oven, homemade soups, leek and onion is my favorite with split pea a close second. Any fish, as long as fresh or frozen, halibut is terrific. Waffles with bacon and local maple syrup on Sundays is standard.

Safety Plans X Yes

Leisure

Love to watch football, some basketball. Fish on the local bay and also bird watch at the local park. Support my University by attending functions and football games. Spend time with grandchildren and adult children at least once a month with Skype visits when possible. Travel to Winnipeg to see family and friends twice a year. Have dinner with local friends up to 1-hour drive away once a month.

Social Network Including Family

As stated above, while this may change (not likely), setting aside time and resources to travel will be essential for me to age in place.
